Philippine Call Center Booms Amidst Global Crisis

Philippines is now becoming the world's leader in business process outsourcing (BPO) services according to the annual report recently released from IBM's Global Location Trend in New York. This country is one of the fastest growing outsourcing hubs in the world, aside from India and United States, with India that was taking the lead. But according to the latest report, Philippines is now ranking as the most attractive off-shoring destinations in the world because of its labor cost that is not as high as in India. Most importantly, the Filipinos are easily trainable, proficient in English, and highly skilled in the IT profession and any computer related course. Because of these, Filipinos provide quality of work that made the foreign investors entrust their businesses to this country.

At the times when the world experienced economic downtime, the BPO industry, particularly the call center companies have been continuously arising in the Philippines employing thousands of people every year. This is because outsourcing is one of the solutions to support the company's development and success during global crisis. In fact, outsourcing companies were able to save from 15% to 40% from operational cost of outsource processes. The BPO industry is not showing any signs of diminishing when it comes to employment. It will continue to grow and has the capacity to employ one million people in the Philippines within the next five years.

The country provides an attractive business environment that is conducive to call centers and other BPO investments. The Philippine government ensure that apart from building the appropriate environment for BPO industries, the development of human capital in providing a world class workers needed by these industries is a must. The  progression of the economy in the past years has proven that the country is not affected by the recession and that the BPO industry is the most important contributor to its economy.
